INSIDE THE BID · LINE BY LINE

What an itemized bid spells out

"Itemized" gets used loosely in bidding, so here is what it means when you ask for yours broken out. Each part of the scope gets its own line with its own quantity and its own number, so you can see where the price comes from and put our bid next to anyone else's without guessing at what's inside it.

    • Demo & haul-off is priced by scope line. If the demo scope changes, you can see exactly which number moves and why.
    • Earthwork & select fill base is priced by depth and area. The part of the job that ends up buried under the slab is quantified on paper, not folded into a lump sum.
    • Forms & steel are itemized per plan. What your drawings call for is what we price, and what we price is what we place.
    • Concrete placement & finish is priced by area and spec, matched to what your spec sections ask for.
    • Joints, cure & protection are included, and the bid says so in writing. These are the quiet lines that thinner bids tend to leave unspoken, so we spell them out.
    • Inclusions & exclusions come in writing. If something on the drawings isn't in our price, the bid says so plainly, rather than leaving it for a change order to discover.
    • Alternates are priced separately, so you can see what each option costs on its own and choose what fits the project, instead of untangling options from the base number.

Assumptions get named, too. If our price depends on subgrade condition or on what demo uncovers, we state that on the bid up front, so there are no surprises later. And if any line raises a question, just ask. Walking through the bid with you is part of the work, and we're happy to do it.
